Itineraries, Tour Ideas and Sample Menus

Here are some ideas of ways to spend your days in Escalante:

For a more relaxing educational day, start off with a light breakfast at the Escalante Outfitters (i.e. fruit, yogurt, and/or granola). Then head off to a morning yoga/meditation course on the slick rock just outside of town with the warm morning sun greeting you. After yoga the remainder of the morning could be spent relaxing and exploring canyons. Then, come back to the Outfitters for lunch and a course in Dutch-oven cooking. Spend the afternoon wandering around town on a historic walk learning about the rich pioneer heritage of the Escalante area. As the day draws into evening relax while being served dinner at the Outfitters. After dinner you could go out on the desert for a lesson in light photography as the sun goes down, or stay up a little later and learn about the night sky. The campfire is always going after dark, and the stories get better as the night goes on.

If you and your group are more interested in a burly day:

Start out with an early breakfast at the Outfitters café, then load up for an adventure on the mountain fly-fishing with our guide Nathan. He will have everything you need for the day, including gear and a great lunch. Getting to and from the fish is half the adventure, so be prepared to eat a hardy meal when returning. After spending a long day fishing, relax with a deep tissue massage or reflexology foot treatment. If there is still energy left spend the evening listening to stories and music around the campfire.

Of course these are only ideas and sample days, you can design your own vacation, just tell us what you are looking for and we will put it together. Days can range from $100 to $500 per person depending on what you would like to do and the menu choice. The opportunities are endless here in Escalante.
